Child Psychology Clinic

Individual Therapy

The Child Psychology Clinic provides specialist assessment and therapy for children and their families in a one-to-one client focussed environment. The service is provided by clinical Psychology Trainees who are undertaking advanced post-graduate training and practice in Clinic Psychology. Your consultants are further supported by highly experienced, registered clinical psychologists, in the area of child and adolescent services.

Assessment involves an in depth process of information gathering and collating, from a wide range of domains and contacts.

An appropriate therapy is then implemented that is specific to the individual needs of each client.

Due to ethical issues, the service is not available to Curtin University staff, students and their families.

The clinic is proficient in a range of child/ adolescent and associated family problems. These include:

Depression
Generalised Anxiety
Separation Anxiety
Phobias
Social Competence
Low Self Confidence
Performance Anxiety
Learning Difficulties
ADHD
Behavioural Problems
Self Care (Encopresis/ Enuresis)
Academic and Educational

Over the past few years the Child Psychology Clinic has proved successful in assisting children and their families to overcome the above issues.

Sessions are videotaped to allow your consultant to give you the best intervention by close supervision. Tapes are completely confidential and are wiped after supervision is completed.

Group Programs

The clinic also runs different groups including the Aussie Optimism Program, Positive Parenting program (Triple P) and the FRIENDS program. These groups are run periodically depending on demand.

Fees

Fees are based on a sliding scale of total family income.

Fees range from $30 to $65 per hour depending on income level for individual therapy. Fees for group sessions are $15 per session. Please enquire about your personal requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: We ask that you notify us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time if you are unable to attend.

Cancellations made later than this will be charged at the normal rate.
