Participant Information Sheet
Hello. Our names are Elizabeth, James, Lara, Lauren, Ling, Martin, and Vivian, and we are 4th year Bachelor of Psychology students at Curtin University. We are conducting research examining the effects of cognitive style on university students’ preference for types of assessments and assessment feedback.
If you are currently a university student and aged over 17 years, we would like to invite you to take part in this research. This will involve completing an online questionnaire about your cognitive style, your preferred assessment method, and your preferred method of feedback. The questionnaire will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
Although participation in this research will not benefit you directly, the information that you provide will help to develop an understanding of what factors affect assessment and feedback preferences.
Your participation is entirely voluntary and you have the right to withdraw at any time prior to submitting your online questionnaire. The questionnaire will not request any personal or identifying information, to ensure your anonymity. If you choose to complete and submit the questionnaire, we will assume that you have provided your consent for our group and our research supervisors to use your data in our research and future publications.
At the end of the questionnaire you will be offered the opportunity to enter your email address to have a chance to win one of seven $50 Coles Myer or Amazon gift vouchers. To ensure confidentiality, your email address and the questionnaire responses will be stored separately to ensure no connecting links.
The information that you provide will be accessed only by our research group and our supervisors. The data will be secured in a locked cabinet at Curtin University for five years, before it is destroyed, in accordance with the University’s policy.
